Scott is a territory manager working in New York City. He is originally from Doylestown, which is a suburb of Philadelphia, but he has been living in New York City for about three years now. He ended up in New York via an internal transfer with his previous company. He lives with his girlfriend and dog in the East Village of Manhattan. His parents and brother are back in Pennsylvania, but they spend plenty of time visiting each other. When they get together, their go-to activity is catching up over brunch or drinks. Scott loves to explore the city and local neighborhoods and enjoys spending time trying new restaurants and bars. He also loves to spend time with his girlfriend outdoors and traveling when they get the chance. It is also important for him to get his exercise every day.
How does working for Chemsearch FE align with your life goals?
Interpersonal relationships and problem-solving are at the core of my personality, so working for a company that allows me to build connections while also solving problems aligns perfectly with my goals and values.
How did you end up at Chemsearch FE?
Prior to Chemsearch FE, I was working in the corporate travel
industry. Once COVID-19 hit, it crippled the travel industry (especially
business travel), so I sought out other opportunities to still work in a
relationship-building role, solve problems, and provide a
service.
How did you feel about starting your career with FE during the virtual age due to COVID?
While it would have been great to experience some training in Texas, I feel very fortunate to be able to still connect with people from all over the country via Zoom and absorb information about my role and the company.
Having people sign into the first training sessions (HR, IT, senior leaders, etc), was a great way to meet people virtually and learn about the role of people in various branches within Chemsearch FE. Getting to hear from them right off the bat got me excited to begin my journey!
What do you feel is your biggest accomplishment so far in your career with Chemsearch FE?
Thus far, I am most proud of exceeding the order expectations for each P&P course that I have gone through. It’s reassured me that I am learning the utility and benefits of our solutions, and I am able to successfully communicate the benefits to my customers.
What are the most rewarding parts of your job?
Definitely the friendships and relations that I have built with some of my customers. Sometimes I go through a day without realizing that I am really working because I am having so many good talks and laughs with people whom I have gotten to know on the job.
What do you consider a fulfilling workday?
Meaningful conversations, successful demos, and an active/high-energy day are what lead to me feeling fulfilled when I get home at the end of the day. Being on foot all day in the city with nice weather doesn’t hurt either!
What is the best piece of advice you have received
On day 1, Luke Menn told us that Attitude + Effort + Skill = Success. While it’ll take some time to develop the skill, focussing on attitude and effort will lead to a successful first year with FE.
What is a piece of advice you would give?
Don’t let a bad day linger with you. Let the day go, and manifest a good day tomorrow.
