A study found that the wastewater system in a facility was a highly probable transition route during the 2003 SARS outbreak (source: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7191284/). Specifically, airborne particulates within the system can be released when flushing or as water flows into a drain and splashes on top of the water already in a p-trap or sanitary waste collection point. This can raise the potential of cross-contamination amongst building occupants. Proper sanitization of the wastewater infrastructure is critical to maintaining a building and the safety of its occupants.
Through the Chemsearch FE Facility Shield initiative, we are committed to partnering with you maintaining the safety and sanitization of your building. Specifically for your wastewater system, we have created this free downloadable checklist for maintenance and engineering teams to use to ensure staff and customer safety.
